Machining
Metro Contract Machining features a variety of manual and CNC machine tools capable of
handling both smaller and larger size piece parts with a high degree of
precision. Many of the larger machine tools are especially suited to satisfy
the machining needs of contract customers. Over the years, Metro has developed
a strong proficiency in meeting commercial and Military machined parts
market requirements.
Contract Assembly Services
Metro Contract Assembly Services
are available to customers who need an experienced build resource. We can
build machinery to exacting customer specifications, using parts we machine
or fabricate as well as those furnished by others. We can easily handle
the purchase of associated commercial items if needed. Metro can perform contract
assembly to any intermediate level, or through final assembly, checkout
and test.
Quality
To support its machining operations,
Metro maintains a well equipped Inspection Lab containing a large inspection
table, an optical comparator, a CMM, and multiple selections
of precision size gauges and measuring devices. Metro's Quality System,
which meets MIL-I-45208, has helped Metro to become a certified supplier
to numerous major customers.
Part inspections not possible in the Lab, are
performed on the machine where the part is being processed or wherever
practicable. Dimensions to be inspected are prescribed by internal
or contract customer drawings. Most all Contract Machining or Contract
Assembly activities including welding and painting are performed by Metro
at our plant. Any necessary subcontracting is done under Metro specification
control. |

CAD/CAM Interface
An important machining tool to improve
process times, meet part tolerances and handle complex shapes is Metro's
Computer Aided Machining (CAM) System. Our CAM System is electronically
interfaced with Metro's Computer Aided Design (CAD) System. Conversion
of parts' drawing coordinates (dimensions) to machine tooling in order
to produce the parts can be quickly and easily accomplished with extreme
accuracy.
The need for Contract Machining to
remain competitive with respect to cost and schedule is recognized by Metro's
continuing commitment to maintaining an inventory of top performing machine
tools and the qualified machinists needed to produce quality parts.
